Privacy

I’d say something really clever here about how I won’t take any of your personal information, sell your address to pornographers, trade your email for a cheap plane ticket to the closest country without extradition treaties or call you while you’re on the toilet.

But you probably don’t care. Now that we are past the initial “Oh my God, the Internet is going to ruin our lives” phase of the early 2000’s, we’ve just kind of given in to the whims of our online lifestyles.

The fact is, every website collects a little bit of information and places little tiny cookies onto your computer. They all do. Well, you can set your browser to not allow this, but how many of us actually do? But if you want to, you can. Your machine will run slow as molasses, but the option is there should you choose.

But, thanks to a couple of bad apples, all website owners are  required to explain how their sites interact with you and your computer. It’s all part of the Google Terms of Service (TOS).

So here we go…

Leaving Comments

When you submit a comment to LazyBumFitness.com, you are required to enter your email address. This isn’t so I can sell it to the guy pushing Cialis from somewhere in Russia, its so I can verify that you are a real life human being, and not a robot spam machine. I don’t always check comments before I accept them for publication, as the spam is usually pretty easy to spot. But on the off chance yours gets caught in the spam filter and you don’t leave an email address, I’ll have no choice but to assume your well-written, highly articulate comment was nothing more than a ploy to get Lazy Bum Fitness readers over to your “Babes In Bikinis” free trial membership site.

And I don’t publish your email address with the comments anyway, so you’re only giving it to me, not the untold millions of people who visit Lazy Bum Fitness every day.

Also, I occasionally run contests through Lazy Bum Fitness, and use the comment section to communicate with those involved. If you win, I’ll have no way to get you the possible $1,000,000 winner’s check if you don’t leave me your email address.

I do have to point out, though, that I’m not responsible for the links that you or other readers leave in the body section of the comments, or the URL link you leave for your web sites. I try to check them once in a while and delete those that are “bad” but I can’t get to them all. Long story short, click on a URL in the comments section at your own risk.

Advertising

I use third party advertisements on LazyBumFitness.com. Go ahead, tell me that I’ve sold out to the man and I’m only in it for the money. No seriously, go ahead, I’ll let you get it out of your system…

The reality is that these advertisers help me offset the cost of building, hosting and maintaining this site. It’s not as simple or cheap as the hackers on TV make it look, at least not for me.

Some of these advertisements are Google Adsense Ads. I am obliged to tell you this:

Google may or may not collect certain information about your computer for their advertising purposes. This information is not personal, nor is it traded or sold.

For more information about Google Adsense, including the option to opt out of the service, visit Google’s Advertising and Privacy page.

Google uses the Doubleclick DART cookie to serve ads across it’s Adsense network and you can get further information regarding the DART cookie at Google’s Privacy Center

If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to drop me an email. There’s a very big chance that I’ll actually know less about it than you, but you never know…
